Psoriasis Risk of Heart Disease and Stroke

Psoriasis
Psoriasis, an autoimmune disease that causes skin change too quickly proved to be a risk factor for heart attack and stroke. Similarly, according to a large-scale study published in the European Heart Journal.

Patients suffering from severe psoriasis at a young age to be the group most at risk of stroke and heart disease. The risk is even three times greater than normal people. Experts suspect it is because the skin and inflammation of blood vessels have the same source.

The association between stroke with psoriasis is long known. In a recent study, researchers analyzed the 36.765 patients in Denmark with mild psoriasis and 2793 patients with severe psoriasis. Research conducted between 1997 and 2006.

The result is known that those aged under 50 with mild psoriasis have an increased risk of abnormal heart rhythm by 50 percent, while the risk of ischemic stroke increased by 97 percent.

And people with severe psoriasis are at increased risk of heart and stroke respectively 198 percent and 180 percent. While patients over the age of 50 have a much smaller risk.

Yet research shows only link the two diseases. In other words, it does not mean psoriasis cause stroke or vice versa.
